  1. I got some videos in AVI and others in RVMB of the same show and my question is, if I already have RVMB, should I even bother trying to get AVIs? So many people seem to be bashing rvmb.

Well I'm not sure what the content is you're looking for but I always go with the approach that if you like it then that's all that matters. Save your time if you are happy with what you have.
Donatello - The Shredder? Michelangelo - Maybe all that hardware is for making coleslaw?

  3. Well they appear to basically have the same quality but people are always trying to tell me that rvmb can't match mpg and avi.

If you have a high enough bitrate and access to a good quality source pretty much any codec can look great. Its the file size that is impacted by the higher bitrate.

  5. Yeah they seem the same size as avi or mpg. For an hour video. I was just worried because most people seem to think rvmb is lower size so way worse quality.

RVMB are good for certain types of data. They are very good in compressing anime, for example. Typical anime compressed with RMVB vs XVID are about 20% smaller in RMVB, that's from what I've seen so far.

  7. Most hour show AVIs I have are 350mb. All my RVMB are basically 150mb. So could that mean a huge lack of quality or could just mean nothing?

People like to recompress original avi releases to smaller rmvb files and call them the same quality. They aren't. But if you are happy, then that is fine. As said, RV9EHQ is good for anime. That is comparing video codecs though.

avi vs. rmvb would be comparing containers though and I would say that rm has the edge since it can properly handle VFR video and VBR audio. Still for real video, I would use mkv. also I would use x264 instead of real video.
