Over the weekend, my Philips 642 bit the dust. The wife suggested that we replace it with a DVD/VHS combo unit. I found that the Toshiba SD-V394 played DivX and then found it at BB for $90. I been playing/testing it for only 3 days. So far, it has played everything except for one DVD back-up done on a Platinum DVD-r from Microcenter. This played on the 642. My biggest concern about this player was the fact that it didn't list DVD+R/RW on its acceptable media list. All media that was backed-up was done on a Lite-on 811s and BenQ DW 1655. Media includes:
Sony +R and -R
Verbatim +R
Maxell +R
TDK +R
Platinum +R
and other +R
Mult DivX movies on DVDs
And so far, all Divx/Xvid on CDs
Please let me know any other good or bad about this player.
Toshiba quility has been good to me in the past and I am hoping for more the a year out of this player.(unlike the 642)
Thanks
