I have seen edited video that either takes the video and pans it down into a smaller frame and moves it to the side of a set background, say a still photo. I call it picture in a picture. Can that be done in Vegas 6.0?

Yep. It's all in the book that came with the program.
All you need to do if use the Pan and Crop effect. You can lay the video you want to pan and zoom in or out of on top of the what will become the background video. You can use video or stills. No DVD can withstand the power of DVDShrink along with AnyDVD! -
Thanks, I found it in the mean time. This thing really has a steep learning curve. I have used Pinnacle for years and am trying to graduate to more powerful software. I am spending about 2 hours a night playing with the software trying to make sense out of the jargon and bells and whistles. I am having fun.....

Good luck with learning Vegas, I am sure you will enjoy it. Check out Eds newsletters on http://www.jetdv.com/ for good articles and "how-tos". They helped me a lot.
