  1. I have two avi files,
    First is: 704 x 320, XviD, almost 2hrs long
    Second: 576 x 320, XviD, 1hr 15mins

I tried to convert both to DVD Mpeg2 using tmpeg, but both films would end up being >7gb in size, which cant be right.

Even if i re-encoded them to svcd, they would both be ~4gb

Ive had SVCD files that ive just joined and authored 2 on one dvd using DVD-lab, but this was some time ago.

How can i re-encode both files to be at a reasonable quality on one dvd? or am i dreaming?

use divxtodvd or convertxtodvd, add both and encode, author and then burn.

or in tmpgenc use the wizard and set the output size to half a dvd, but I suspect that it read the video length incorrect and makes the size wrong...cause of vbr mp3 audio.

and this is not any "dvd to". moving you.

sorry for putting it in the wrong forum.

How do you set the output size? Tmpegenc seems determined to not let me change the file size

    you lower the video bitrate.

if you are using the wizard mode you can set output size. are you using it?

then tmpgenc probably reads the video runtime incorrect and you can't set the size correct....use something else like the free divxtodvd or convert the audio to wav and use in tmpgenc or change the directshow reader priority, see www.videohelp.com/tmpgenc#problems
