Apparently I'm an idiot. After a year or two away from Netflix, I decided to sign up for another account. Why I didn't go with Blockbuster is beyond me. Maybe it had something to do with being half asleep.
Anyway, on Friday (aprx 6 am) I signed up for the 4 out plan so I could have my movies to watch over the weekend. Normally I rent only TV stuff through mail. In this case, my top four discs were a movie and all three discs of a TV season I wanted to see.
On Saturday, I recieved the movie and discs 1 and 3 of the series. So I went to the website to find out what was going on and disc 2 was set to ship Monday. Now this seems like a ploy to make sure that I can't start watching the series until Tuesday thereby ensuring I keep the discs longer. And I have no idea how they can manage to send out 3 discs but not the fourth. But even given my past history with them, I decide to give them the benefit of doubt. I mean hell, they used to at least wait until the second or third shipment to start screwing with me.
The 4 out plan was a little big for me anyway. I only did that because a lot of the shows I wanted to see were 4 disc sets. So I decide that I will switch my plan to the three out. The four out is only going to slow me down. I might as well get what I wanted in the first place.
So I went to the site and tried changed my account. It would not allow it.
I called Netflix Customer Service foolishly thinking that they might be interested in, oh I don't know, customer service. Let me assure you, they aren't. I dealt with a smug little bastard that was incapable of doing anything more than repeating information already on the website. He refused to help me.
So in summary, I signed up for the four out plan. Instead they gave me the 3 out plan but refuse to bill me for it. So if you think anything has changed at Netflix, think again.

Enough with the damn Netflix conspiracies!
Why is it their fault that you waited until the absolute last nano-second to start your membership? Shit happens, and you had a little hiccup with your shipment.
Blame it on the weekend. You will have 4 out, so they're keeping their promise. I'm sure that if USPS ran 24/7, there'd be no problem. Technically speaking, that's a mere one day "delay". They didn't refuse to send you the 4th until you returned one of the other 3, now did they?
If you send the 4 back at the same time, will it be that they are charging you for 4-out when you have 0-out? -
Also what you don't realize is that there are many netflix locations(where DVDs are received/mailed,etc).
Not every location has the same amount of movies. The closest location to you might have only had discs 1,2, and 4.
Whereas disc 3 had to come from another location a bit further away that had it. Thus taking longer for the 3rd disc to reach you. -
Netflix is the root of all that is evil in this world. lol

A number of times last month, with a certain show, I got 3 of 5 discs from my local center, they got here in a day or two. The others had to come from Oklahoma, which took an extra day or two because that's out of state.
You also get discrepancies from sending dates because not all discs, for whatever reason, can go out immediately, but rather the next business day. The most common reason is it was processed after the send-out time, or it's set to be processed too late in the day.Want my help? Ask here! (not via PM!)

Oh pleeeeeaaaassse! Let's not get into all these half baked theories again as to why maybe, possibly what smells quacks and acts like a duck- isn't a duck. Sure, maybe OJ didn't do it. But let's be real.
I'm not real sure where I went wrong in detailing that my complaint wasn't with throttling. Despite the lawsuit, or any other info, some of you are never going to acknowlege throttling.
That's fine. Neither one of use is going to convince the other. Arguing about it is pointless. However, some of you seem to be stuck on auto pilot as that wasn't even the crux of my argument.
My complaint was with Netflix "Customer Service." My next movie was not set to ship for 2 days. There is NO reason whatsoever that they couldn't have downgraded my account to the plan that I wanted. And if there was a logical reason, they should have detailed it for me. It's called customer service. Instead, I got some cartoonishly arrogant $10 an hour punk whose expertise was limited to not being illiterate . If I have beg for or demand customer service, it's not worth it.
To smearbrick: You clicked on a post with a very unambigous topic. Then you took more time out your day to let everyone know that you were annoyed. You know what? I couldn't care less. And trust me, the feeling is mutual
As for being a glutton for punishment, Yeah, I guess I am. I just thought a lawsuit may have changed something. Next time I want to see a series but not buy it, I will get it on Ebay and resell it when I'm done watching it. -

You can either accept it and not let it get you riled, or don't participate.
Most people do acknowledge throttling, but not the malevolent "we're just making more money" method that some (conspiracy) theorize. It's a simple distribution method to insure that the warez people aren't always dominating the queue. -
The whole "throttling" non-sense is also in relation to supply and demand, with fairness forced into the equation. If you want the discs and you rent a lot, and another guy who barely rents wants the same disc, to keep things fair, he gets it first. And you, instead, get something else further down your list. Now the problem lies with people who only have "big name movies" in their lists and nothing else. They get nothing, but it's by their own choice.
This throttling crap is self-inflicted, the "victims" do not have a long enough queue, and are unable to appreciate anything that is not a new release. Yes, Netflix is not for you. Run to Blockbuster, and good luck on it getting any better. Better yet, go buy the movie, stores have it for sure.
While it's nice to say you deserve a detailed answer, it would be impossible. Your disc is probably in another building, in another state, lost in a sorter with thousands of other discs. Answers are impossible.
Have some patience. Quit seeing conspiracies, you're not that special, nobody is out to get you.Want my help? Ask here! (not via PM!)
