  3. Thanks for all the info.

    I basically wanted a way to differentiate FS from WS DVD's.

    So can I assume that for any DVD if

    AR is less than or equal to 1.33 => FS
    AR is more than 1.33 => WS

    AR is the Aspect Ratio given on the DVD case

    DVD's come in two flavours only. 4:3 or 16:9. Film can come in a variety of aspect ratios, and any of these can be encoded as either 4:3 or 16:9.

    If a DVD case has 16:9, Widescreen, Widescreen Enhanced or Anamorphic on it, then it is 16:9 (excepting errors, of course). This is regardless of the movie aspect ratio.

    It is quite possible and legal to have a 2.35:1 widescreen movie on a 4:3 disc. In this case, the cover will usually have Matted Letterbox or Letterboxed Version written on it.
