do you mean dvd shrink? it is ONLY for dvd video.
use an avi editor like virtualdub instead. -
I don't understand what's happening here, I first captured in DVD format and now in Uncompressed avi and both files are showing as "windows movie" files, this never happened before, any ideas why?

As baldrick mentioned dvd shrink is for authored vob files only. You have to take your mpeg or avi files and author them to a dvd structure on your harddrive. Then you can use dvd shrink to compress them if its too large for a single layer disc.
Probably whats happening is windows is identifying any video file as a windows movie file - you might have windows media player set as your default media player.Donatello - The Shredder? Michelangelo - Maybe all that hardware is for making coleslaw? -
Probably because your default capture app IS Windows Movie Maker.

Is the dvd capture to an mpg file? Televisions usually can't capture anything. What capture device are you using? If it is a DVD recorder, you should be able to use shrink on it like any other disc.

I am using a leadtek card to capture from the TV, always worked fine capturing to mpeg in the past and the Capture format I always chose was "DVD", I only switched to "Uncompressed avi" to see if I would get the same "Windows Movie" result which is what's happening right now.
I don't get it, with every capture I have done before, I have never had any of my files show as Window Movie, why now?
