I just got some Sony +R manufactured in Japan. Office Depot had 50 for about $15.00.

    DVD speed says:

    Manufacturer: unkown
    MID: Sony D21 (000)

    Are these any good?

Also what are Sony -R manufactured in Japan likely to be? They have the same deal on those.

I haven't tested those SONY D21 media id yet. I bought a spindle of those from wally worlds on Sunday. I had them match price office depot and I also got 2 spindles of SONY DVD-R media ID TYG03. It's getting difficult to find TAIYO YUDEN from regular stores.

Were the Sony-R manufactured in Japan? I may pick up the -R if TYG03 is what they likely are.

Still tons of 1X-8X TY Sonys at Wal-Mart Canada. Between those and the Verbatim 16X from The Futureshop, this has been a great couple months for buying blanks....

I have a spindle of the SONY16D1. So far I prefer the x8 Ty Sonys, but the SONY16D1 Nero scans have been good. I'd recommend burning them at 8-12x to minimize potential errors.

Yes the SONY DVD-R that I picked up from wally worlds were "MADE IN JAPAN". They weren't picked up from OFFICE DEPOT. Just take the OFFICE DEPOT Sunday ad with you to wally worlds. No problem in having wally worlds to price match.

  8. Must be a regional thing.
My local walmart's Sony and Maxell have only been MIT (ritek i assume) for over a year now. And it wont price match anyone on any product. I think that may be a "manager's call."
In fact during a conversation with the new manager he said the only store he would consider price matching is Target. And since there is not a Target within 20 miles that throws out the window any price matching. Also prices have actually gone up on media at this store lately. So that again makes me think it's a manager decision when pricing.
Thankful for Rima and 8x TY which beats his prices by a wide margin....which I let him know. He didnt seem to care though.
Glad to see some are getting fair deals from your walmarts.

    Good Sources of MIJ Sony media that is DEFINITELY TYGo3;

    DVD-R:
    Circuit City
some Walmarts ( some I've bought were SONYxxx code, still good media)

    DVD+R:
    Office Depot
    Circuit City

It has to be regional, even by county. In the northern counties of where i live, the Walmarts have MIJ Sonys. in the Southern
counties, they have MIT Sony. ( Both Flavors of disc)
OFten, I find myself driving all over state to Price match and get
what I want. This week, with Office Depot offering $14.99 Sonys
I had to go to 3 different Walmarts ( one out of stock, other 2 MIT)
before I finally just went to CC and bought the last they had
( 2 spindles). Both turned out to be TYG03.
