I was wondering if anyone could help me with a problem I have with my dvd writer. When I insert the cd/dvd into the drive when it trys to read it, it just crackles and takes ages to stop. The computer doesn't recognise the fact that i have put a cd/dvd in. It copys the cd/dvd, but crackles all the time and it says when finished writing was successful but when I play the cd/dvd it just breaks up I have not been able to write a successful cd/dvd for ages. I have updated the firmwhere but still nothing. My writer is a Liteon LDW 8515. Please help if you can, I am at the end of my tether![]()

buy a new burner ?

I think I would suggest a burner replacement also. But you first might try changing out the IDE cable, just in case it has a poor connection. At least unplug both ends and replug them. (With the computer unplugged.
) But if the burner is more than a few years old, lots of new burners out there for ~$30US. Not really worth messing with an older burner.
