Looking to create a video server for all of my dvds. I was wondering what is the best for conversion for dvd. I wanted to keep the best quality possible but also use the least amount of space. Was looking into divx conversion, would that be the best. Thanx All.

Divx (or Xvid - it's free and arguably better and faster) is a good option, although I find that the quality is lacking in most instances. Generally this is down to the bitrate used, which is invariably too low. I would keep the bitrate around the 2k mark to keep the quality on par with the original DVD. This will result in a space saving of round a half to two thirds over the original. You can use much lower bitrates and alter resolutions, but you compromise your image if you do.
