I have an XP1600 I had not used in a while. I put it in a Biostar motherboard. CPU-Z and WCPUID report it having 9.5 clock at 133=1267mhz. But websites say it has 10.5 clock at 1400mhz. I can't find any XP or MP cpu that had a 9.5 multiplier. Can anyone shed any light.

It should be 10.5. Can you change it in BIOS? This is a WCPUID screen shot from this article: http://www.amdpower.com/sections.php4?op=viewarticle&artid=53

More searching on the net I found an article that says AMD was releasing underclocked XP's to meet the demand for lower speed cpu's. I know Intel does this so it's probable that I have one that was underclocked to 9.5 becayse the faster core produced XP1600 performance.
It has AGOGA stepping so I was able to up the bus speed to 176Mhhz x 9.5=1672 clock speed. So it's running as an XP2000.

  4. The Athlon XP 1600 normal clock speed is 1.4 GHz. The model number is not the actual clock speed, only a rough performance number to make them look better compared to Pentium 4 CPUs.

That must be one of the Athlons that isn't locked down too tightly. Just monitor the CPU temps carefully if you are going to OC it like that. Usually the limitation is the RAM or the video card, but it depends on the MB also. I've OC'd some of the early Semprons using a bus speed of 200Mhz and they would run fairly cool and very stable. I never changed the default CPU or memory voltages. AMD apparently modified the later ones so they would only go a little over 167Mhz.
