  1. hi all

hope someone can help with this very odd problem. I got my very first DVD recorder today. My plan is basically to record stuff with it onto a re-writable DVD - then copy the VOB files from the finalised disc onto my PC then edit the files from there.

i'm getting a strange problem though. I've recorded my first programme and it plays back perfectly in the standalone DVD recorder and also on the PC DVD player. When I copy the VOB file to my PC however, it plays silently. I renamed it from .VOB to .MPG and now the file has sound - however, the file doesn't play back very well and keeps intermittenly skipping forward a few frames and making it a rather "lurching" experience to watch!

Does anyone have any idea why this is happening?

  3. Hi Sifaga

I've tried doing that and have also just simply copied the VOB files over as they can be seen in Windows Explorer. Exactly the same result both times - a VOB file that's completely silent but seems to play ok. Once renamed to an .MPG - it stutters all the time...
