I just want to know what program I have to use to burn movies that I downloaded off the internet onto DVD-R. The movie is an avi file. I tried some programs that came with my computer, but no luck.

Just a word of advice:-i'd be careful what you mention, re. '...movies downloaded off the internet.' People be banned for less.

Anyway, yes to programs already mentioned-another suggestion is avi2dvd.

Ok, I tried "ConvertXtoDVD", I opened the movie file and clicked convert, it took some time, when it was finished I put a blank DVD-R disc in the dvd writer and went to "actions" and clicked Burn DVD. I did that, then it wouldn't let me click Burn, any suggestions?

  8. Are you saying that you tried the burning software that came with the drive to simply copy the downloaded file to a DVD and you were unable to do this? Can you burn to your DVD drive with ANY source file or program? THIS IS STEP ONE. NOTHING ELSE WILL WORK IF YOU CANNOT PERFORM THESE ACTIONS.

Your original question does not take into account the need to convert AVI files to MPG for playback on most standalone DVD players. However, some players will handle these files without conversion, do you have one of these?

Once you get this working, I recommend doing some reading as you will be amazed at the potential quality improvements and extras you may achieve using more advanced software.

You may want to take care to blank out the names of files in your screenshots, you are aware that downloading copyrighted movies, or assisting in such actions, is a felony punishable by fines and imprisonment?
