probalby a stupid question but when i take a dvd and back it up on my pc as an iso does it in anyway effect the dvd istelf, i.e will it play later on in a normal dvd player? thanks

It should playback fine unless the disc has deep scratches.

Just as playing a DVD does not do any damage, ripping doesn't do so neither.
