Hi there. I'm taking recordings from my set top box (Standard Definition) and eventually converting them to mpeg2 which I can burn at a later date. The process is as follows...
* Remove hard drive from set top box - transfer seperate vid and audio files (.pes)
* Use ProjectX to demux into seperate audio and video files (.m2v , .mpa)
* Use Tmpgenc to Multiplex to one file (mpeg)
*Use Tmpgenc Merge and cut option to edit and save the final video.
At approx 5-10min a step it takes a lot of time. Also I have 30hours at a time to back up... lot of steps...Maybe there is a more simple way to do the conversion??
All I want at the end is
* As little picture Q loss as possible
* A quick way to convert, with frame by frame editing if possible. (I hate Tmpgenc Merge and cut but was told you dont suffer any P.Q. loss from the input file to the out put file.?
Any suggestions please feel free to tell me. Thanks

ProjectX to m2v,mpa.
Edit with Cuttermaran, it supports separated / demultiplexed m2v,mpa. No reencoding but you can't cut exact though. -
ohh, cuttermaran supports frame accurat editing but you need tmpgenc encoder or quenc because a bit will be reencoded.
