I want to create a still menu image that slowly changes colors/hues every 4-5 seconds.

It's not a hard change, but rather it would change slowly and step through other colors, for example, from green to greenish-green/blue, to green/blue, to bluish green/blue, to blue. If that makes any sense.

I have Adobe Premiere 6.5 and Adobe After Effects 5.5, and would think this is possible in one of them. Just something I've never tried before, would be nice on a little project, something new.

    Ideas?

  2. Try the "4 color gradient" Affect in AE. This Affect can do it with ease.

I've just started with AE, have no idea what to do yet. Can you give any detailed instructions on how to make the project? What I have is a still image and want to change the hue to a new hue every half dozen seconds, with there being smooth transitions, not quick changes.

I would just merge it with an existing video, if I knew where one was. Of course, I'd still prefer to pick my own colors, if possible, so I'd really like to learn how to do this from scratch.

    Try canadateck's advice...
Within AE create a new layer. Open up that effect. You'll need to play around with the settings..
    It's a very basic filter..

    or.

Create a Photoshop document and create layers of different colours..
Drop the PSD file onto the Premiere timeline.
Drop the "Hue" filter onto the clip, and keyframe the different values...

    Good luck!!!

  6. I thought I would try something quick for you.

I created a document in Photoshop CS2 with multiple layers. One Red, One Green, One Blue. I imported the layers into AfterEffects 6.5 and put them into a 30 second composition, one above the other. First Red, Then Green, Then Blue. I also created a text layer and put it at the top of the composition above the red layer. All the layers opacities are set to 100% to begin with.

I jumped to the 6 second mark and marked the opacity of the red layer as 100%, then jumped to the 7 second mark and set the red layer opacity to 0%. I jumped to the 13 second mark and set the green opacity to 100%, then jumped to the 14 second mark and set the green opacity to 0%.

Going backwards was a little trickier. Along the lines of reversing the order to go from blue to green, then green to red.

I rendered the animation as an Xvid file and zipped it along with the Photoshop PSD document and the AfterEffects AEP file. I'm not sure if it will open in the older version or not, but you can give it a try. I put the file on my website for you to download....

I hope this helps a bit, or at least gives you an idea that works better.

    Take Care,
    Lloyd

Ended up doing something else. That'll give more time to learn this technique, as I'm sure to need it someday. Can only put it off for so long.
