Karen Navratil here, I'm a Newbie and having alot of problems with converting video files.
Let me outline what I'm doing and see if I'm making sense.
01 I have satellite TV with a DVR/Receiver. I get perfect recordings with this.
02 I have a Lite On Home DVD Recorder hooked to the DVR. Which makes perfect
copies from the DVR.
03 After I make a recording to a DVD RW, I copy the files to my home computer which
includes a DVD burner. I have an Athlon, 1800 htz, 2, 140 hard drives and 512mb of ram.
04 I use a program called VideoReDo to edit out the commercials and resave the files as VOB
and when I call up the new file in VideoReDo they look great without the commercials.
05 Now is where the headaches start!!! - Nero won't let me make a video DVD of the edited
VOB file and gives me an error message that files are missing. (I think after editing out
the commercials the other files get messed up)
06 I then tried to convert the VOB files to VOB files with some software, it took 5 hours
for a 1 1/2 hr movies and the quality was alful and the audio was out of sync by
3 seconds.
07 Next I tried to convert that VOB file to Xvid and then to DivX with the same results.
Extremely poor picture and out of sync sound.
Suggestions are very welcome, Tks for reading this - Karen

Reauthor to a new dvd with Tmpgenc DVD Author, just add the edited vobs.
AND PLEASE use a subject that describes the problem. CLick on edit to to change the subject. -
I do the same, I capture in DVD complient Mpeg and author with Ulead product. If the capture is dvd complient it won't take much time at all, just keep it under 2 hours for best picture.
