After all the posts about it and not being able to download it, I forgot about it. I said it would be good if it weren't outdated like Google maps was. Well, it turns out that it is exactly the same as Google maps. Check this out:
This is what Google Earth shows:
This is a shot I took last year at the same exact spot:

It officially opened around August last year. That's when I took that picture. But, that structure you see has been up for at least the past three and half years. In the Google image its not even up yet.

Ive noticed that most major cities are fairly newer where outlying areas are not so detailed and in some cases alot older. -
Try
http://worldwind.arc.nasa.gov/
For the US at least, the map is far more detailed
but more computer resources are required. -
I tried that but I can't get any detail here in Wisconsin, can you help me out?

wasn't this thread outdated
. My area was also outdated as it's changed quite a lot but Google was from around 1999-2000
I enjoyed playing with Google Earth but it soon lost it's appeal once I'd looked at certain places on the earth  -
Here is a castle in Germany.
The Google map link is here...
http://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&hl=en&q=augsburg+germany&ll=47.860858,12.399101&spn=0....86002&t=k&om=1
You have to zoom in to see the castle and the gardens.
You can also drag the map around with the mouse.
This is what the castle looks like...
