  1. I am trying to backup a few movies and just bought a new pack of Sony DVD-R's 4.7GB 75 Pack and this is the screen I get when burning the ISO with DVD Decrypter.

Did they just add some kind of protection on the DVD's so I can't backup DVDs anymore? Should I switch to Maxwell DVD-R's?

You should switch to software that has been updated. DVD Decrypter hasn't been updated in years.

  3. Whats a good program to burn ISOs then? These are the same DVD-Rs I've been buying for a few years now (except I have never boughten a pack of 75)

Never had this error before and I just backed up a DVD a few days ago.

I always use DVD Decrypter to burn ISOs. Older versions may have trouble with later protection but burning an ISO is burning an ISO. For some reason it doesn'y like the disc. It may be a dodgy one in the latest pack you bought, it may be that although they are Sony branded they are manufactured by somebody different (is the media code the same as on previous ones that you have bought?), it may be pure coincidence and your burner is dying or the lens needs cleaning.

  6. Last try to see if anything has anything to say before I take these back. Should I just swap them for a pack of Maxwell DVD-R's?

Switching discs does not address the problem.
And both discs are good anyway, so no.

Check the media code on the ones that aren't working and check the code on some of the ones that have worked OK. If the media code is the same, it is likely the drive. Post what the code is and see if it is a decent type.

  10. How old is that version of Decrypter? Try to get the last version if you still can, version 3.5.4.0. There was one place that still had it last I knew.

SuperLink666 - Your problem is very well known. You are trying to backup a DVD with a type of protection (most likely it's a Sony disc with ARCCOS) that DVDDecrypter does not understand. Changing the media will NOT solve this problem. It is a problem with DVD Decrypter.

You need to either use something like DVDFabDecrypter or do a web search on a very ugly, manual process to make DVDDecrypter work with ARCCOS copy protection.

What's weird about it? I do it all the time. I am not one of those people who only buys one type or brand of DVDs. I like to experiment. Especially with those non-name brands that you see on sale all the time. When they don't work or have questionable reliability I will usually return the ununsed portion and get either store credit or a refund.

  13. jman I have Fab Decrypter but I want to burn these ISO's that I ripped with it and I usually just use the program DVD Decrypter to burn the ISO because i was familiar with it and it was simple to use. I will gladly switch to another program to burn my DVD ISO's, but nobody has posted any programs to burn ISO's..

  14. Ok well I just tried burning a DVD ISO with Alcohol 120% and am getting errors like Incompatible Error (same as DVD Decrypter is giving) This must be an error with my burner and the media because I've burned so many ISO's without a problem and now I get this..

the only difference I notice on the DVD label is these ones are 1-16x and all my others are 1-8x speed..

  17. If 8x discs worked and the 16x don't, you probably need a firmware update. Look on the manufacterers website or at CD freaks for the latest firmware for your burner.

You may want to update the firmware for your drive. You will not be able to write at 16x on DVD-R discs with that drive. You might even have issues with VCDs not working right when burnt on that older model. I believe there is also a hacked firmware out there that removes the rip-lock from that drive. It's a good drive, but I'd suspect the media is not 100% supported by your drive.

I use DVD Fab Express or Fab Decrypter with AnyDVD running in the background for ripping discs. DVD Fab Express is a good program to own and it is regularly updated.

the above link is the official liteon firmware.

you could also go to the codeguys website that has hacked firmware which many people use with their liteon dvd burners.
