    And she will be using it for her broadcast (antena) TV reception. (She won't go for sat or cable.)

    The LiteOn will filter the bad signal. I'd go for that one, for quality off antenna. It would even run $300 or so at most. I don't know which store has it (Best Buy, Radio Shack, Walmart, others), but somebody will. The 80GB drives record about 33 hours of SP mode video. More if you do LP 3-hour mode. They may have 120 or 160GB drives now, maybe.
