I'm dubbing a MiniDV tape from my Panasonic PV-GS150 camcorder to my Sony RDR-VX515 DVD recorder. I'm using a firewire cable to get the best picture quality, but I can't get the date and time to be displayed on the output DVD.
I want to use firewire as it yields better quality than S-video or composite does. But how can I get the date/time to appear on the output? If I use S-video to dub, I can get the date/time to appear or disappear as I wish.

The same is true with the Pioneer recorders. Pioneer specifically points that out. It probably has something to do with how the date and time are saved to the DV tape so that is only readable via the analog output.
What happens when you try capturing to a computer?
