I was thinking of trying Staple's own brand of ink in my Epson R200 (used mainly for printing onto disks). I've always used Epson inks but these are half the price (in Canada). Has anyone used this ink or tried other generic ink? Anyone had any problems? Any recomendations?

It actually maybe good for epson. For HP, it is a bit too waterly, and causes minor leak.

I use G&G cartridges in my CX4200. Works well, real cheap from overstock.com

Get some great help and info from http://ink-refills-ink.com/
I am not affiliated with them in any way, but I have used their ink in my Canon I850 for years. Since it was the brand new model! Never had a problem with their inks, and they know thier business!
I do tons of printing with my Main I850 never had any ink problems. My spare I850 sits for days or weeks between printing a time, never clogged a head.
In Email from http://ink-refills-ink.com/ concerning ink for the Epson R200 they said
The refillable cartridges for the Epson R200 are a little easier to refill than the Canon cartridges. You simply remove the label on the top of the cartridge and inject ink into fill holes in the top of the cartridge. After the cartridge is filled you reseal some of the holes with some aluminum tape.
Nothing could really be easier or quicker. These R200 tanks are supposed to be easier?
They have every thing needed for low cost refills.
Single use cartriges full of ink are $6.95 each
Specail refillable cartriges come full of ink, when empty you can refill with bulk bottles of ink and a syringe as often as needed.
Refillable Black Cartridge - $12.95
Refillable Color Cartridges (3) - $29.95
Refillable Photo Cartridges ( 2 ) - $19.95
I don't know if you need the chip resetter or not for their refillable cartriges, if so that is
Epson Chip Resetter - $24.95
Though it may sound expensive, $67.80 is a one time expense for the refillable cartriges (full of ink) ready to use. That's all 6 at $11.30 each one time! Free shipping on orders over $45, no sales tax either.
If you need a chip resetter that is a one time expense also for $25.
If you bookmark their site you get a 5-10% discount, I do that of course as I order alot at one time and that's alot of savings.
The cost of bottled ink is very low, the larger bottles you buy the cheaper it is.
20ml is $2.99 per color and says does 2 refills. That's $1.50 per tank or
120 ml is only $11.99 per color and says does 9 refills. That's $1.33 per tank
I think they under estimate the number of refills and I actually get far more refills for the volumes I buy for the Canon I850.
They sell it by the gallon also if you can use that much
I got alot of info from http://ink-refills-ink.com/ about ink for my new Canon Pixma IP4200 I just bought so I asked about my R200 also. I only use the R200 for disks because it cost too much for cartriges, I still have my original tanks. So I always use the I850 for everything expect disks.
If I like the Canon IP4200 for disk printing after the mod, I will probably just sell the Epson R200. If I keep it, then I will buy the refillable cartiges myself. Simple, fast and easy to refill, low cost inks, but not the same ink as the Canons. -
Thanks guys. I think I will try the Staples ink as it comes with a money back guarantee. I'll post back with comments.
