Impressive for $100. That's the plus version. The have a regular version for $70 which after having a quick look at the specs appears to just be Version 9.

I'll admit I haven't bothered with ULead for quite sometime, but I can't resist a barb...... does it still have that special ULead feature of crashing every 10 minutes? I used to try to use their products (before I came here and was enlightened
) But seriously, I don't think I ever was able to sucessfully complete a full length project. Before you buy I'd wait till several folks here said they have had good luck with the product, don't go just for the features.

I use only Ulead products and the ones I use are very stable. Can't say I use Video Studio though but i don't see many posts on here where people are having problems.

Ulead's Video editing programs are definitely more stable than they were a couple of years ago: I no longer have to exercise caution and do a save every 5 minutes to recover from a crash in Video Studio 9 or MediaStudioPro 8 - much better than before with earlier versions. I do prefer the interface in MediStudio Pro over the Video Studio products.

MSP would crash on me, too, until I dl/ed the 7.03 update. VS is crazy popular.

I use VS9 and it's crashed a couple times, but overall is pretty stable. It's a very good application for the price range and has improved greatly over the last few years.

I have upgraded to the plus version (same cost as standard - go figure!). I used to have version 8 so I'm getting a lot of new features. Things that stand out for me are:
- six overlay tracks rather than just one
- most (if not all) of the features of MovieFactory 5 (at least as far as I can tell) in its DVD authoring component ie movable/resizable objects, menu transitions, motion menus and smartscene menu
- smart render now actually works. In v8 smart render was good for trimming a clip but if you used it for multiple edits, transitions etc lip sync gets progressively worse and you get "pip" noises in the audio at the join and a slight visual shudder. Consequently I used to put up with the slower re-render. In v10 lip sync stays synched and the joins are perfectly smooth both visually and audibly/
- I notice I can use animated gifs but maybe this was in earlier versions
- It also has 5.1 dolby and 16:9 support
To be fair I have had it bomb out a few times but not constantly and I have certainly been able to finish what I've been working on. It does have a crash detect when you restart and offers to restore project but I'm not sure whether it does any more than just restore the project from last save (ie no different to File-Open).
- improved interface although they still have the awful Ulead library management paradigm rather than a hierarchical tree.
I'm very pleased with the new release and am glad I upgraded.
