  1. Okay, I'm trying to transfer DV footage after editing it in my PC back to the MiniDV cassette for permanent archiving. Essentially: transfer from HD to Sony DCR-HC21 (just as stated in the subject header above). How do I go about making it happen?

I'm using the Firewire in Win98 -- the basic drivers on the Win98 disc work great.

Your editing software can probably do this, as can standalone apps like WinDV. I assume you output your edited footage as DV avi ?

  3. Usually, my output files are either DivX (5.1.1) or MPEG2, but I do occasionally dabble in other formats for experimentation purposes. I have created a few DV files before, and I can certainly make more of them as soon as I can justify it.

Thanks for the link.. I'll give it a look-at in a few days.

The camcorder will only accept DV format. Best to edit in DV format.
