Does anybody know if there is a DVD Recorder with upconversion that can be updated to upconvert through the component cables? I'm assuming that there isn't, but thought I'd check with the experts first.

  4. Why do you want an upconverter?

If you're watching dvds, they are set at 480i. An upconverter can't make new data if its not there.

    dk...,

Here's a large list of dvd recorders with an HDMI output option. So, most of them should upconvert.

I personally just purchased the Toshiba RD-XS52 DVD Recorder/DVR for a conference room at work, but I havn't installed it yet.
