Links/ads from So Cal papers/stores, so YMMV...
CompUSSR has TDK 50 packs (+ and -)for $14.99, 16x - site says Delivery only but I originally saw in the weekly advert so it's in store too (reffering to no online order/in-store pickup maybe?). http://www.compusa.com/products/products.asp?N=0&Ntk=product_code&Ntt=332424,333268&Nt...id=dsr&ref=dsr
and Circuit City has 25 packs (again +/-) for $6.99 - unknown speed, but likely 16x.

On a related note, what are the chances that they'll be crappy (for me! I know some like them..) CMC discs and not the TTH/TDK/YUDEN codes?..I suppose I could do the usual pile search for MIJ's (CMC are MIT right?). I've got a CC just a few blocks away, so if I go early enough tomorrow, hopefully there will be plenty to choose from still.
[edit] And Sony 50 packs (+/- as usual) @ BB $14.99 - http://bestbuy.shoplocal.com/bestbuy/default.aspx?action=detail&storeid=2412793&rapid=...id=-2095249493 [/edit]

Most likely any of the TDK DVD-R media is going to be TT codes made in Taiwan.
-
See my postings under the "DVD Media" link at left.
Yes, TDKs sold at CC are TTG02.
But the TTG02's sold at Target are more stable,
producing less than 5 coasters per spindle.
On the ones from CC, I usually average about
5 coasters ( Medium Error) per 25 pack. YMMV."Everyone has to learn, so that they can one day teach."

I didnt realize the TTG's were MIT, I was under the impression that all the good stuff was MIJ, with maybe the exception of MCC/Verbatim..You learn something new every day
.
Anyway, I got 2 packs, both -R's - 8x *not* 16x like I assumed..One with a couple white spacers @ top, other with nothing - both TTG02s, as terryj and Gen-An said. So, if you must have 16x discs (re: the TDK..), then maybe you should just pony up the extra ~$1.10 (over 2x25 @ CC) for a 50pk @ CUSA.
I've never tried TDK's before, so hopefully (and likely) they will be better than my experience with Ritek G05's (and R03's) that I last had - a few coasters (maybe my fault tho) but higher error rates on scans than I like to see...And freezes at the ends of a few, but also that could be a result of my cheapo Cyberhome settop having a dirty lens or something. -
How well TDK -Rs do seems to depend heavily on the drive. My Pioneer A09 and LG 4163B do very well with TTG02, but the results aren't so hot with my Plextors.

All that media mentioned above suck big time they are all made in taiwan.
-
Just because media is made in Taiwan does not mean it sucks (see Verbatim media, or the TDK DVD-R mentioned here).
-
TDK media doesn't work well with the dvd burners that I use. I no longer use them at all. As Gen-An mentioned just because it says MADE IN TAIWAN doesn't mean it sucks because VERBATIM MEDIA is good. Of course as long as you get the ones MADE IN TAIWAN. The MADE IN INDIA VERBATIM sucks.
