  1. I have a strange problem.

I've got VLC media player and Windows Media Player (latest) and the ffdshow codec pack installed.

My movies are playing great in VLC, but as soon as I open DivX movies in Media Player the speech volume seems very low. It's strange, I have my audio output settings set at 2.1 stereo, just the way it is - but I barely hear what they are saying in the movies. The sound effects/music is great but it seems like someone is cutting down the volume on the speech tracks or something! But it's just simple DivX movies, that work great in VLC!?

The reason I want to use Media Player is when watching movies with subtitles. Through vobsub I can make the subs visible in a more fashionate way, making the subtitles outlined and stuff to make it easier to read the subs, which I can't seem to do in VLC.

Please help me with this strange problem!

are you using ffdshow for the audio decoding? maybe some filter activated?

  3. I just checked my ffdshow audio filter settings - and the AC3 function was disabled.
I enabled it now and it works splendid.

    Problem solved!
