Hi, I want to get a HDTV digital TV tuner card and a WiFi wireless router to stream the signal to the various laptops.

    Has anyone successfully done this?

What hardware & software should I get for both the HDTV tuner card and the wireless router ?

  3. Mike,

Have a look at the current Australian PC User magazine. It covers setting up your own media server.

Having read the article, the 'gotcha' is that you're not going to be able to stream HD video without re-encoding it to a lower bitrate.

Other than that, on the capture side, I'd recommend the Compro DVBT300 which gives you digital plus analogue at around AUS$125. Cant beat it in my book.

    Have fun,
    Ian

Thanks Ian, so TV streaming isn't that straight forward.

I was thinking of just getting a cheapie for the wireless router

  6. This software looks interesting. I was looking to hook up my camcorder to my ATI TV wonder and then be able to view it over the internet via streaming compressed video. I'll give this a try and let you know how it works.

Let us know how it went. I've been a bit time poor lately and haven't tried it out myself.

Also, could you let us know exactly what type of wireless network you have.

It can be done , but you may have an issue with current law's covering broad cast's over network's ... check your state's or territories government agency covering telecommunication's before hand .
