I have an ati aiw 9600xt capture card. I am trying to convert some vhs tapes to dvd. I have a vcr that I've plugged in through the composite input on card. When I'm trying to capture some of the footage it is really jumpy I record the footage then go to watch it and it is still jumpy. Part of the problem could be the fact that the footage is full of motion. It is a bunch of football footage. I'm captureing in mpeg2 with a variable bit rate. I have set the motion detection quality to 100 but still no better results. Could part of my problem have to do the fact of telling the card to capture interlaced or deinterlaced video? Should I be using a different format? I do not think that there is any possibility of the fact of my vhs tape being bad becase of the fact that This only happens when I click the little record button in ati mmc otherwise there aren't really any problems. I have tried this with multiple tapes with the same problem. I really could use some help. Thanks allot.

Preview looks good but capture is flickering right? Noisy white band across the top?

Well, I did try that when I first ran into the issue but had no luck. Congrats to you for solving your issue, however.
