Can someone remind me how I used to do this...

Hi,
I download mpeg2's from my replaytv.
I used to be able to highlight as small section of the file and save it as an audio clip.
I can't for the life of me remember how I used to do this. I hope I don't have mad cow, but I've done it 1000's of times yet I can't remember it.

I searched but I couldn't find a specific case that helped me.

Can someone please help

Currently I'm using womble to save a section of video, and then use super to save that as mp3. but I swear I had an easier method that was just a single step.
