The only thing I'd buy at Circuit City would be an exit pass.
I'd buy memorex when I used to burn CDs. -
I found some Taiyo Yuden CDR Media on the net.
It says its for 52x speed but my cdr drive only goes to 48x speed.
Will there be problems? Or do I get the Prodisc 48x?
THnks,

TY CD media is the best and you always get TY when you order it. Almost all other "brands" can be any media code the company can get at the time. Verbatim can be actual Verbatim media, very good, or trash from China and you will not know until you get it open.
After TY, Ritek still makes good CD media. Everything else they make is trash. CMC is a manufacturer that shows up a lot, Philips, Verbatim, Sony, HP; they all use these from time to time. They used to be average but lately they are decent. Your best bet is to look for a price around $14 per 100 and then try and find a batch of CMC under someones brand and stock up. Right now Sony seems to be safe.
You can pay more for a name brand but often you will get CMC anyway.
Look for Country of Origin and avoid China. Taiwan is usually OK.Still a few bugs in the system... -
How about the brand names such as TDK, Memorex, Sony ?
Cheap medias just hurt in the long run. You may save a 50% of the cost and end up throwing all of them (including your audio / video material) later. This is way more than 50% loss.ktnwin - PATIENCE -

Recently, I saw some discs (I forget the brand name) made in MALAYSIA.
Who's making those? Anyone have any experience with them? -
CD-R and DVD-R is really about the same, for quality. But less companies make CD-R now.
Basically:
TY and MCC good.
CMC and RITEK not good.Want my help? Ask here! (not via PM!)

I have heard "they're improving" for years now, CD-R and DVD-R. Never happens. For every up, there are generally two downs.
