watching pal-m tv broadcast on ntsc tv

I believe it would work.
Most VCRs have only coaxial and RCA outputs.
If you buy a SVHS you will have s-video output.

hi all

i have recently moved to Brasil form the USA and am trying to find a way to watch tv in color on my North American set. I found a similar post in this forum regarding using the tuner from a pal-m vcr but wondered if anyone can confirm that this should work.... ie. plug the incoming tv signal (pal-m) into a vcr that i purchase here (pal-m), and then output to my tv (ntsc) through either RCA or S-Video (these are the only inputs my tv has).

It is so long since i used a vcr that i don't remember if they normally have rca or s-video outputs?
Will the picture still be in black and white using this method?

i don't care about recording or playing back the pitures, just simply watching the broadcasts live and in color!

Until someone answers from Brazil, I'd suggest that you shop for a "Multi-standard" VCR or DVD Recorder that does just that. Make sure the TV tuner can handle PAL-M or NTSC and that PAL-M input can be E-E (no recording) output in NTSC over S-Video.

The other way is to find a set-top OTA PAL-M tuner or cable/sat box that can output NTSC.
