  1. Im backing up my DVD using dvd decrypter....making ISOs and burning them to dual layer DVDs...the final copy doesnt play on my standalone, but it plays fine on my computer...could this be due to the way I am backing up or because Im using cheap media...Ridata

It could be the media, most say Verbatim is the only reliable double layer media to use.
Verbatim is the only double layer media i have used and have never had a problem yet doing it the same way with dvd decrypter & authoring a few also.
It could be your standalone player does not support double layer recordable media, not all standalones will play it.
Could be it need's to be booktyped to dvd-rom to play on that certain model.
But i would assume it's one of the first two.

  4. I found this out yesterday..I thought I had made a bunch of coasters..When I use the progressive scan on my dvd player on backups, they skip, lock up, and all that other fun stuff, if they play at all..I tried 4 or 5 dl dvds I backed up and they all did this. After I turned off the progressive scan, they worked like a charm..Anyone have any idea's why?

If Ritek cannot produce decent single layer media, how on earth can they produce decent DL discs ?? Come on now.
