Ok, forget Ashampoo Burning Studio, if the trial doesn't have any adjustments available such as booktype bitsetting to dvd rom, then I won't bother with it.

Does Nero 6.6 do booktype bitsetting to dvd rom for DVD +R DL for instance? My LG burner supports that and I need it to hopefully avoid "coasters"...

Anybody have any suggestions on where I can buy Nero 6.6 online for a reasonable price and which exact version is best?

    thanx,

Yes, Nero does bitsetting, provided that your burner supports this feature. I believe most burners support it for DVD+R DL.

You can buy Nero from their website here.

Thanx. I just realized that dvd decrypter also does bitsetting. I am trying that for now.

Any idea if you can rip (read-iso) with dvdfab decrypter and burn iso with decrypter? dvd fab doesn't appear to have many options, if any at all. I'll take another look. I will check out the Nero website. I forgot that they have links to buy older versions on their website.

No you can't. DVDdecrypter and Imgburn only burn ISO images. DVDFab decrypter rips to a VIDEO_TS folder.

There are a few different ways you can do what you want:

    1. Rip using DVDfab, do whatever editing you want to do, then use DVDShrink to convert your VIDEO_TS files to an ISO image, burn the ISO image using Imgburn or DVDDecrypter.

    2. Rip using DVDfab, do whatever editing you want to do, then use RecordNowMax version 7.x to burn your DL VIDEO_TS folder directly to disk. This is my preferred option.

    3. Same as #2 above, but use some other burning tool (say Nero, or Prassi Ones) to burn to the disk. I haven't tried this, but various people on this board have reported different levels of success/failure burning DL with Nero.

I'm sure there are other ways of doing what you want, and someone will come up with them.

Thanx Phantom. I used dvd decrypter to re-backup a dvd and used its booktype=dvd rom for +R DL and that worked. I will keep your other suggestion in mind for the others.

    thanx
