  1. I have transfer an hour of DV from my camcorder to my computer using nerovision. I choose DV type 2 thus the audio and video would be easily editable.
I put the DV avi into vdubmod and in choose full process in stream list and when I try to save the wav file it gives an error says there's no codec to decompress the audio.
I know the audio is PCM wav, 16bit stereo and 32000 Hz, but in Gspot it tells me there's no decompressor to playback the audio either, so that's very strange.

Also I use avisynth to frameserve to CCE, but cce refuses to accept it, and if i use directshowsource and import it to cce it shows up as only 240 frame only for the video.
I tried the samething with tmpgenc, it is the same result, strange enough if i import the DV directly to CCE or tmpgenc it is perfect.

Here's a list of codecs I know I have installed on my computer
Sony DV codec, Canopus DV codec, Panasonic DV codec, Avisynth 2.5, FFDshow

So please help me out if you can, i'm only 21 and I dont want to loose all the hair i got

Have you tried to transfer the video to your computer with WinDV? I'm not sure what NeroVision is doing with it.

I use WinDV for transfer and open the DV in VDMod, edit and filter as needed, then frameserve just the video to TMPGEnc encoder. I save out the audio as a WAV in VDM and run it through ffmpeggui to convert it to AC3 audio. When I author the MPEG-2 with TMPGEnc DVD Author, I add the AC3 audio back in.

I believe the newest version of VirtualDub (1.6x) can accept DV directly from a Firewire card as a capture source, though I haven't tried that.

  3. You could try with DVdate. It is generally top for checking DV audio, and if you install the WavDest filter, you will be able to extract without pain the audio stream to wav with a DVdate command

When you save the wav from virtualdubmod, do you select Direct Stream or Full Processing?

    Well I just looked around.

NeroVision can't seem to do it
    VirtualDub mod wants a codec
WMM doesn't seem to want to extract audio

ULead Video studio did it directly ("create sound file")

I use 'Full Processing' for the audio. If you don't, you may end up with your old audio in a 'WAV' container.

    This guide explains it: https://www.videohelp.com/guides.php?guideid=837#837

Paul Glagla's tips may help also with figuring out the problem. I extract out the audio to WAV several times a week using VDM with different types of videos and it always works. Makes me think your DV file has a problem. I would try using WinDV for a transfer.

You also might want to check your PCM codec. Control Panel>Sounds and Audio Devices>Hardware>Audio Codecs>Properties>Properties>Microsoft PCM Converter>Properties. I'm assuming that is the one in question.

So you mean use something else for DV transfer other than Nerovision?
I also have DVD MOvie Factory 3 I can try.
I can't use WinDV because I would like it to be a timed transfer, since i'm using analog to digital passthru on my camcorder

Scenalyzer Live can do scheduled DV transfers with the addition of a timer program that's on the 'Tool' page with it.

You can use WinDV for timed capsfer using the command line option. And you can use Microsoft's Scheduled Tasks to execute a .bat file that contains the command line. (Although I have found Scheduled Tasks to be less than reliable.)

If you have that PCM Codec I directed you to, probably not. If it's missing, which would be very strange, you can get instructions here to re-install it:

Have you at least tried WinDV? I know it's not much good for scheduled transfers, but that would at least tell you if NeroVision is the problem.

Any decent video editor would allow to save audio to a separate wav. Plenty downloadable trials to choose from.

NeroVision is indeed the problem. what a POS, it creates bogus DV type 2 file. I used DMF3 and it works perfectly
