I just found these today on the futureshop website: http://www.futureshop.ca/catalog/proddetail.asp?logon=&langid=EN&sku_id=0665000FS10067535&catid=
There is nothing in the DVD media pages about this. Does anyone know what media code/country these discs are from. ?

Just purchased a spindle of 100 -R at Futureshop for $29.99 - DVDInfoPro reports the media code as "TYG02"
Tayo Yuden at this price.....??? Must be conterfeits...???
The label says 'printed in Taiwan' but nothing about made in, just printed in... -
I find it odd no one else here has ever heard of or used this media....

Heard yes. Used? Like Hell! The Futureshop Dataware crap are also Ty Fakes. If you want good media for a cheap price, go to Walmart, and get the Sony +Rs. Those are real Taiyo Yudens for a good price.

Why would Futureshop be selling counterfiets...??? I don't disagree with your observation as I posted the same thought earlies in this thread...
But for an established business like Futureshop or Bestbuy to sell fakes makes no sense... -
Is not that they "know" they are fakes. WHether they do or not, they are not literally passing them off as genuine TYs. Hell most peopl don't even know what a mdia code is or what it means. As far as how many fakes there are out there? Too nomerous to count. I've actually used some of these so called fakes and some do suck and some are quite good.
Do go back to whether they purposely try to pass fakes as real TYs, I have not really seen any examples of that from most reputable housesNo DVD can withstand the power of DVDShrink along with AnyDVD! -

Futureshop management doesn't know the hole in their ass from the collective hole in their head. I don't expect them to know those Comstars and Dataware 50pc are Ty fakes. Or if they do, they just feign ignorance. A perpetual state for them regarding any item that they sell. When asked about media codes they're staff say that the manufacturer is listed on the package. -
When the price of these fell to $22.00 for a spindle of 100 DVD-R... I couldn't resist the urge to try a spindle... So far I've burnt about half the spindle and only had two coasters... Matter of fact I went back to the store to purchase another 100 spindle -Rs but Futureshop were sold out... So I picked up a 100 +Rs...
I'm using these for data that is of no real consequence or for friends who want a copy of something... Any thing of value I back up to a Sony TY +R...
