  1. Hi, i have just downloaded the new Sky by Broadband software but I can't run it. I downloaded the software, successfully installed it and then updating the Windows Licenses about 6 times... but now finally tells me that I appear to be outside the UK!

I think this is because I am with AOL and often their "ip address" is located in New York. the support team at www.sky-broadband.com have told me to contact AOL for a different ip address. Does anyone else have the same problem or is just with AOL?

I've heard of this before, but I think you are really going to have to contact AOL on this one.

Slightly off topic here, but i just wonder if someone wanted to play a DVD that had DRM (like T2 Extreme edition in High Definition) that requires you to be in USA, would this work with AOL? Maybe it would, not that im going to switch to AOL.

I wouldn't be too disappointed. The quality of the movies is pathetic, download speeds are awful and the sports section contains only short clips, no full games. It really is a very poor attempt.

And if they are only going to allow UK IP addresses to access it, they should do the checking at the initial download stage, and definatley during the updates, not just when you try and access the service!

You have to have a IP based in the US to "watch" it. So, in effect, you could use a US based proxy if needed. I personally stripped the crap DRM out so I could watch it any time I felt like, which isn't much, because wmvHD absolutely sucks (glitchy fastforward and rewind, grainy movie quality).
Your base? Well, they belong to me now...

There are huge threads over at AVS forum and doom9 forum about removing DRM from T2. Its a complicated process and requires the licence to be used as part of the process, so you will need to download the licence.

Direct Link for actual removal of DRM from T2:
