    i am trying to convert avi to dvd and want selectable subs but the subs are in .ssa format i can't find a program to do this. I have tried using subtitleworkshop but it crashes every time i go to save.

    What if you do "Save As..."? Did you get latest version from URUsoft's website?

    And what authoring program are you using?
