Get the BENQ 1650 from newegg.com.

The BENQ 1650 can do bitsetting for DVD+R/RW and quality scans can be done by using CD/DVD SPEED. I've never heard of doing bitsetting for DVD-RW if that's what you're looking for.

budz thanks for your help. The drive you selected is the same one that I picked up at newegg. I should be at home today. Hope it likes being as a slave drive.

If you are running Windows XP, be aware that due to a "feature" in the OS, slave CD/DVD drives may get set to PIO mode and it can be a real nightmare to get them into DMA mode. I had to do quite a bit of web searching before I found some info on this and the fix requires you to go into regedit and change a registry value.
