Try frameserving the dvd from virtualmod to bbmpeg ... look in guide's section for my guide's , I have mentioned the method for dealing with multiple vob's .
As for subtitle's for vcd's .. I thought this was not supported , only hard sub's were .
If you want a vcd with subtitle's then consider mini-dvd's on cd :
Open script via virtualmod (info found in my guide's)
Sellect audio stream , decode to pcm ... wait .
Video filter resize to 352x288 for pal , or 352x240 for nstc .
Audio , full processing , choose no audio for 2nd .
1st audio is wav , locate extracted wav .
Go to audio conversion for audio 1
Set to 48khz .
Frameserve to bbmpeg .
Name file , remmember to add the avi extension .
In bbmpeg , hit add button box .
Locate this avi file .
Hit encode , next , hit setting's .
Here are several tab's .
Program steams and settings :
Choose mpeg2
Input and output file's :
Check mark both audio and mpeg .
General setting's :
Uncheck both multiplexing item's .
Click ok , hit start to run encode setion .
-----------------------------------------------
Re-encode mp2 audio using besweet to ac3 .
-----------------------------------------------
Subtitle's may require retiming , use visualsubsync .
New project , choose video (the new mpeg2 from bbmpeg) .
Sellect audio from file (that decoded audio wav from virtualdub) .
Import subtitle , check for timing issue's and correct as required .
Save when done .
------------------------------------------------
Author with ifoedit .
Or with dvdauthorgui .... help :
With dvdauthorgui , add one small clip that has matching audio format , and video clip that is default dvd format , ie pal being 720x576 ... ect .
This allow's dvdauthorgui to author dvd's using mpeg2's at lower resolution's than full d1 res .
This clip can be noped out by using pgcedit .
-------------------------------------------------
The only issue here then is as this may still be too large to fit onto a single cd , you will need to split it for 2 cd's .
You should check out the guide's section on my guide on how to remove commercials and alike from mpeg's (those ready for dvd authoring) .
Dont remmember the link , but it is on the first 2 page's in the guide section .
-------------------------------------------------
Follow this guide , but you only need to locate an appropriate split point for the dvd .
Carry out the instruction's as mentioned in that guide ... then use vobedit to split this dvd into 2 parts , demux by cell id will give you two parts .
Demux the second part ... video , audio , sub .
Retime this subtitle using visualsubsync .
Then reauthor it using ifoedit .
--------------------------------------------------
Create a folder for dvd , add video_ts and audio_ts folder's here .
Add the first half of this dvd to video_ts folder .
Create iso of the main folder using folder2iso .
Burn iso with dvddecryptor to cd .
Replace video_ts folder content with second half , and repeat folder2iso step , burn with dvddecryptor again to cd .
You now have 2 mini-dvd's ...
Delete all associated file's used to compile and create this project now .
---------------------------------------------------------
I normally add a small title to the end of the second one saying "insert mini-dvd2 please" , just to let the user know to get off their butt if they want to see the rest .
These multiple dvd unit's are handy , but most user's just have a single disc unit .
----------------------------------------------------------
Bonus :
I'll have another guide on subtitle repositioning soon which has accurate re-positioning of subtitle's for these mini-dvd's ...
---------------------------------------------------------
You may have noted during my conversion I have produced an mpeg2 video stream at mpeg1 resolution ...
This is because most authoring tool's will not accept mpeg1 for authoring straight to dvd without first converting them to mpeg2 .
Ifoedit will not accept mpeg1 .
Dvdauthorgui will not accept mpeg1 .
Tmpgenc - will re-encode .
Nero - will re-encode .
Ulead video studio may be the same as like nero and tmpgenc ... will see what it dose later when I get the time ..
