I am trying to de-multiplex an xvid video so that I can convert to dvd format. I'm using TMPGEnc to do this and the audio is in mp3 so I am using tooLame decoder to demux the audio as mp2. The video comes out fine, but the audio is only 8:50 in length whereas the video is what it should be at 51:55. None of the one-click-wonders are able to convert the video at all - they always crash after 5-10 minutes of encoding, so I'm thinking there's something wrong with the source video, though it plays just fine in both WMP and BSPlayer. Any suggestions on how to fix this?

    Thanks.

Is it VBR MP3 ? If so, a lot of software either chokes, or mis-reads the length. Load it into virtualdubmod - if you get an error message regarding improper encoding, click yes, then save the audio as an uncompressed wav. Use this as your audio and all will be well.

Well, after posting my message last night, I ran the video through DIKO and it managed to pull out the entire audio in both mpa and wav formats but the video file is empty. When I run the video through TMPEnc just using the wizard (as opposed to the mpeg tools -> simple demux) it craps out saying something about an invalid video stream (if I remember correctly). I ran it through vdubmod's "scan video stream for errors" mode and it didn't find anything. I was kind of an idiot and erased the original output from TMPGEnc, so I don't have the video it extracted. I'm running it through tmpg again right now (just started, so hour and a half to go) extracting only the video stream, so I'll see if that works.

Hmm, now I can't get the video no matter what program I use.

Alright, so it turns out there's a spot in the file that's bad. Around 5:58 in, it gets distorted for a brief moment and then skips ahead by about 12 seconds. This is the spot at which tmpg gets hung up when I'm trying to demux the video stream. I did manage to pull the entire audio stream to wav using ffmpeggui.

So now my question is how do I fix this? Like I said, I ran it through vdubmod and it didn't even pick up the error. I also ran it through Divx Repair, which just crashed - but it's xvid anyway, though I don't know if that matters. I'm going to try to just edit out that section of the video before converting it, will this work?

    thanks.
