  1. Sometimes DVD Shrink wont burn my dvds. It says something to the effect of "error cyclical redundancy". In those cases, some members have suggested that I use DVD Fab Decrypter.

Once I use that and it encodes everything, do I still need to use DVD Shrink to open up the files and have it do its thing? Or can I simply use Nero (to save time) and burn it?

I do like DVD Shrink cuase it lets you do thigns such as get rid of the audio that you dont need. I dont think Nero gives you that option.

    Thanks

If you are using DL Disks you can burn it straight. If you need to put it on a 4.7gb DVD then you need to run it through Shrink
Eliminate the impossible. Whatever remains, no matter how improbable must be the answer.

  3. what is DL disk? I am using Ritek DVD-R.

Why must I run it through DVD Shrink? I have burned DVD-Rs using Nero Burning Rom.

DL is Double layer recordable dvdr.

When you rip a pressed (what you buy from the store) dual layer dvd even the movie alone is usually larger than what a standard single layer dvdr holds.
In order to fit it to the single layer dvdr you must compress it or shrink it with a program as DVD Shrink in order to make it fit.
If you use a DL+R you can backup the original without shrinking or compressing anything.

  5. Recap:
    For 1:1 copies use DVDDecrypter->ISO Read->ISO Write.
For DVD-9VD-5 use DVDFab Decrypter to rip and DVDShrink to compress.
Nero Recode(inc. with Nero 6 or 7) is virtually the same as DVDShrink(same author).

  6. yeah, I usually just use DVD Shrink to author, encode and burn. I take out the studont need like 5.1 ch, and other foreign languages. There are a few rare cases in which DVD Shrink cannot open or read the dvd and I have to use DVD Fab.

I just wasnt sure if I should use DVD Shrink next or Nero Burning ROM. I guess they do the same thing, except DVD Shrink gives you the option of taking out additional language and subtitles whereas Nero does NOT.

DVD Shrink does not burn, it will instruct nero or DVD Decrypter to burn after it is done shrinking the dvd files if you set it up to do so.

No, Nero Burning ROM only burns, it does not shrink, transcode or re-encode.
Nero Recode will basically do what shrink does.
