I was deleting a folder on a drive partition earlier that had a few 1,000 test 0kb files in it but Explorer just hung so I eventually killed the process
Now I cannot delete anything on that partition nor can I delete any new file/folder I create on that partition. I just get this error below (file-folder name is what I called a test folder)
http://img118.imageshack.us/my.php?image=error5iz.jpg
although I've had deleting file issues before that I cvannormally fix, I've never seen this before. Doing a search for the words given in the error doesn't turn up many results with the exact same error, just ones that I've seen and fixed before
The thing is if I perform a CUT on a file/folder to another partition/drive then it does work and it gets copied to a new partition/drive and then the old file/folder is removed from the partition I cannot delete it from
does anyone have any suggestions as to what it is? Is it the file/folder table that is doing this?
cheers

I tried it but XP didn't complain about the partition needing a scan which I was hoping would fix it
I've forced a scan anyway and all comes back OK
very strange

all fixed 8)
I ran a disk cleanup on the partition and it seemed to hang also but after 5 minutes it finished. Now I can delete files again
the 1,000's of test files I had deleted before but killed the process where probably blocking the system somehow even though they weren't in the recycle bin -
is there an easy way to delete a folder that has 1,000's of files in it that doesn't take ages to do?

thanks Soixante, is that similar to MoveOnBoot? I got it but never got round to trying it

deleting a folder with 1,000's of files in it via XP takes ages to do even with system restore turned off and the just delet it without confirmation also
. I'm looking for something that will simply delete the folder with the minimum of fuss
