I'm trying to convert some tv episodes (which are xvid avi files) to wmv, but when watching the converted wmv file, the video lags the audio after around the first 20 minutes. So I hear people talking before I see their mouths move and it's quite annoying. Anyone know what the problem could be and how I can fix it?

Drop the video into Gspot and check for MP3 VBR audio. It's a common problem. Or drop it into VirtualDub Mod and it will tell you if it's VBR right away. Then you save the audio out as a WAV and use that to encode with, along with the original video.
Or if the files are corrupted you can get sync problems when encoding.
