Both +R and -R are just diff standards of the DVD recording format. The big manufacturers can never agree on standardizing anything....so they come up with different formats. I don't think either is better. Many recorders will do either one. I personally would look and see what your stand alone player supports, and use that format....then you can play discs you make some where other than just your recorder.

you say in your other post that your player is capable of playing dvdr's, but have you actually ever played a dvdr in it before ?
and if you do a search you will see how many other people have asked this question and maybe get some idea's....
search, read, search, read, ect.
There is even a little search box right at the top of this post and you can even choose where on this site you want to search 8)
Maybe even take a minute to fill out your PC specs in your profile so people have an idea of what kind of burner you have
It's all relevant. -

BTW: I have found that DVD+R with the booktype set to DVD-ROM gives me the greatest compatibility with my DVD playback equipment (YMMV).

dvd-r actually has slightly better compatability, dvd+r has slightly better error correction, so its a toss up, depending on what's more important to you...i personally use only -r myself....

I use -R myself too.
Regarding compatibility, there are about the same
