  1. Can VirtualDub mix two video sources? If so, how?

That is, if I have one video source with some animation and a black background,
can I blend it on another video source?

If you mean overlay one video over the other, no, AFAIK. It just does cut and paste. And they would both have to be exactly the same format.

But do a Google search for, 'VirtualDub filters'. There are a lot of them out there and you might find one that would help. Here's one popular site for starters:

  3. I think AviSynth might do what I want, but I can't install the damn thing on Windows XP.
    I'm getting errors:

You need administrator rights to install AviSynth!\r\n\r\n(could not write to registry)

    Can't write to:
    windows\system32\avisynth.dll

This is stupid. I am logged in as administrator.

I ran into the same problem when trying to install AviSynth to experiment with. I finally installed an older version from their site and it worked perfectly.

I guess if I looked around a little on their site, there is probably an explanation. Or one of the AviSynth pros here may be able to explain it.

Since you haven't bothered to fill in your "COMPUTER DETAILS", there is no way to even try to diagnois your problem. Also, you didn't say what version of AviSynth that you tried to install.

Also, what do you mean by "mix two videos"? What are you trying to do?

You are probably not logged in as ADMIN, since you don't seem to have any priviledges.

  6. No, I'm definitely logged in as admin. It's my computer, I know how to use it and
have never had this problem before in my life.
This AviSynth installer is just pure crap.
