  1. I've got a similar problem but in my case the MPEG2 layer 1 audio does not play in Powerdvd nor MPC nor in windows MP.

The video file is a Mack Sennet silent movie, MPEG1, I downloaded from Moving Image Archive.

GSpot declares all codecs to be present.

Don't go grave robbing and dig up year old threads. Let them rest in peace.
I took the liberty of splitting your posts off the old thread. If you're not happy with the subject or your text, just edit it.

    But: Could possibly this
    Mack Sennet silent movie
    be a clue?

  4. Yes, it could be a clue. Downloading movies from the Moving Image Archive site can be a form of "grave robbing." Nevertheless if anyone can come up with something that's more helpful than your contribution, it would be greatly appreciated.

What movie was it? (I was actually serious with my silent movie remark - Is it supposed to have audio?)

  6. According to the credits it's a copy of a 35mm print and its original improvised soundtrack, which the software players I mention do not play even though
    they all detect it as MPEG1 Layer 2, 44 100Hz , 64 kps, stereo.

Title of the movie: Love, Speed and Thrills.

    And it's from the period 1914 - 1915.

Out of curiosity, I downloaded the mpeg1 version too, and - no audio - as the info box also tells me. In short: The mpg file has an audio stream, but, there's just silence in it.
