  1. I'm trying to capture a real video/audio stream using Camtasia 2.1.2 and where the stream is, it shows up black and no audio either.

    Anyone have any comments?

    Thanks.

  2. turn off hardware acceleration for the video problem.
right click the desktop and select properties then goto the settings tab and click on the advanced button.

for the audio make sure you dont have anything muted in your sound properties.
double click the speaker icon in the system tray and go to options then properties and put a check mark in all the boxes so everything shows. make sure nothing is muted. go to options then properties again and change to recording and do the same thing.
    peace out,

    Additon about sound recording:

Realplayer won't let you record sound just like that, so you have to cheat it. Start the Realplayer and pause it immediately, then draw the slider back to start and start Camtasia recorder with a paused start (see Camtasia help file). Then it is possible to re-start Realplayer and immediately after Camtasia by pressing "F9" and get the whole clip with sound _and_ picture.

BTW The same applies to Windows Media Player, and hardware acceleration must be turned off to record picture.

As an alternative you can use EO Video (Demo available at http://www.eo-video.com/index.htm (3.1 MB)). I've got similar results using either on a Pentium II 350 MHz but its is easier on EO video.
