  1. Both my drives will not see these discs as 16X. They only see them as 8X.

Here are my drives and their firmware versions:

    PIONEER DVD-RW DVR-110D:
    Firmware Revision: 1.39

    NEC DVD_RW ND-2510A:
    Firmware Revision: 2.18

I haven't updated to Toast 7.0.2 yet. I'm still using 7.0.1. I don't think that is the problem though. Any ideas

  2. My 110 and Toast 7.02 see them [TTH02] as 16X.

  3. Weird. We bought 200 of them at Costco. I'm not sure what "TTH02" means, but here are what they are:

TDK DVD+R 1-16X - Print On White Discs
    DVD+R47WFC100TP

  4. Mine aren't print on white. The TTHO2 is the media code. If yo hae Toast 7, put one of the discs in your drive and then select the "Disc Info" under the Recorder menu. There you will find the media code and a link to reviews (on this website) of that media.

Are you sure about the firmware version on the 110 drive. On the Pioneer website it shows 1.37 as the current firmware.

  6. 1.39 firmware was just released a few days ago, and is currently available only from the Pioneer Japanese web site.

if it is CMC Mag media, then you will probably not
    get better than 8x unfortunately.

My question: you are on a mac. Why didn't you
hop over to Supermediastore and get the 16x DVD-Rs
they had on sale through today for 100 for $30?

These are the best 16x media right now for a mac, aside
from TY media. and they BURN at 16x.

  8. In regards to the firmware, I just updated it last night by downloading it from the Japanese website. It did allow the Pioneer to finally see the TDK 8X discs as 8X instead of 6X like it did before, so I figured I would finally open one of the TDK 16X spools and give it a shot. Hopefully another firmware release will unlock the 16X speed with this media. Although... I might be able to return the media to Costco.

Yes, I am on a Mac. Hence the post in the Mac forum. We had a coupon from Costco... it was 200 for $43. Great deal if you ask me. I'm at work now and can't tell you the media code. I'll check later when I get home.

What about the media you recommend is better for a Mac?

  10. I checked the media code on them. They are Manufacturer ID: CMC MAG.M01. The funny thing is, my cheapo external AOpen writes them at 16X. Go figure!
