I'm sure we all know and love (loath) MS Minesweeper. What's your best times?

Here's mine so far on this PC:

I think, once, I did the "Beginner" level in 4 seconds. My ambition, at least as far as this game goes, is to beat 120 seconds on "Expert".

  2. No longer have Minesweeper in work, but I used to be in competition with a guy to see who could get the best scores. He would try for hours to beat my time and was always dispondent when he came in the next day to see I had beaten his score.

He never figured out the high scores were held in a text file . . . . .

My honest best time is like 22 seconds on Beginner.

A lot of the time, on beginner level, it's sheer luck that the whole thing opens up and you only have to clear a few covered numbers.

Do you know the "double button" trick?

Sure don't as long as my first click reveals some stuff I just go to town. If its not overly complicated I usually get under 30 seconds, but I have to be TRYING to a low time else I naturally take my time and double check myself constantly.

edit: tried double buttons weird but doesn't seem to actually reveal anything.

    From Minesweeper help:

"If you have marked all the mines around a numbered square, you can uncover the remaining squares around it by clicking the numbered square with the left and right mouse buttons simultaneously."

"If not all mines surrounding the numbered square have been marked, the remaining covered or unmarked squares will appear to be depressed (or flash) when the numbered square is clicked with both buttons simultaneously."

Neat never knew that. I didn't learn to play minesweeper for many years until I was very bored at work. Never viewed the help file, just sit down and was like "OH I get it!"

    Ha ha.

So, can we expect a sub 20 second time with even quicker times to follow soon after?
